Windsor VA Conrail on NS right of way

A beautiful Saturday afternoon - taking a break from the desk, caught this shot of a Conrail locomotive heading up an Eastbound Container run. This train blew by at high speed traveling from the Port of Richmond VA to Norfolk VA.

This was originally shot in color and converted to B&W in post-shoot edit.

I took GIMP2 and did the layering, airbrush and background.

Dream Train Steam

Another "Dream Train," this one a vintage steam engine, (seen below in Cumberland Md.), set against the same clouds in Dream Train (Amtrak). Gimp2 provides the editing tools to accomplish this. Hope this is as much fun to look at as it was to produce.

Dream Train

A little help from GIMP and some happy snaps with my Oly Evolt 500 helped me achieve this fantasy shot of a train blazing through the sky. I am normally not into composite photo art, but this was fun, and I learned a great deal about layering, slicing and edits. You might recognize the background and the Amtrak engine from other pictures here.

Amtrak sliding into the Historic Selma, N.C. Station. HDR image provides for the nice relationship of the sky and subject. This train was interesting as taking up the end - was a beautiful SEABOARD Executive Car. Beautiful day - awesome moment!

We were in Cumberland, Md. this a.m., and heard a locomotive whistle across town. We made a "B" line to the railroad station, just in time to catch the Western Maryland 2-8-0 Baldwin Locomotive prepping for its Sunday run to Frostburg. What a site!
